It is hard to believe that it is been eleven years since my father, Manhar Patel, passed away. He was not just a father, but my best friend, confidant, spiritual teacher, and soul mate. Single-handedly raising me when it was rare for fathers to do so, he became my universe. His influence continues to guide me, and I am proud to carry his legacy as Daxa Manhar Patel.
With his encouragement, I became the first in my family to attend university, fulfilling his dream as a solicitor and law firm partner. A shopkeeper’s daughter transformed into a professional because he taught me to aim high.
My father, with his wisdom, left a void in me – yet I still sense his loving guidance. His words of strength, to never let anyone dictate my path and to always have a ‘tiger’s heart,’ resonate with me daily. His spirit and his teachings inspire my writing and leadership coaching.
His cherished gold ring, inscribed with his name, remains my constant anchor. His beloved German Shepherd, Asha, symbolised hope. Memories of our times together with Asha, inspire my bond with Oscar, my own German Shepherd.
Though I miss his spiritual and intellectual wisdom, and our endless conversations, I live with the faith that we will reunite one day. Thank you, Dad, seems inadequate, as I owe him everything.
4,018 days on father, I still miss you but I recognise you are my super power, and something inside me keeps me moving forward with your love in my soul. I love you Dado, and always will.
If you are reading this and remembering your dear father consider yourself very blessed. To have a father with whom you have a deep connection is priceless.
Respect and love.
