I close my eyes and spoke to you in a thousand silent ways today..

""Our thousand silent conversations, yes, this too is a way of life. My Dad and Me. When the title of my book was considered I didn’t think it would be so simple but it just is. I was told by someone the title of the book says what it is, nice to hear that. It reminds me of that advert, it does what it says on the tin!

So, my many silent conversations with my Dad continues. This morning in my journal I wrote to my father along the following lines after reading a chapter in The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne. Dyer.

As we move through life at times we develop a sense of….

A sense of possibility. How our thoughts can move from our thoughts to reality. Like inventions, which we may take for granted. e.g. electricity, mobile phones, Zoom calls, and now the vaccinations to help protect us against the Coronavirus. Usually, vaccinations take years to develop but these vaccinations were developed in less than a year that’s nothing short of a miracle.

I was watching the T.V. the other day and saw a carpenter with one hand yet he was able to create beautiful furniture. We are surrounded by infinite possibilities.

This brings me to the next sense of..

A sense of passion helps us move from thought, to a calling or purpose if you will, to intention and finally, manifestation to reality. We all have an active side of infinite possibilities which makes us conquer stumbling blocks. David Attenborough is an inspirational role model in the way he has shown his passion for the planet and all its inhabitants. For years he has relentlessly reminded us of the wonder of this planet we live in and the dangerous conditions we are creating by our sometimes, thoughtless modern way of living.

A sense of knowing that all is as it should be. A sense of knowing that whatever we choose to be we can be. Mahatma Gandhi said ‘We need to be the change we want to see’. When my father passed away I just had to let go, there was a part of me that couldn’t care and there was a part of me that said I have to surrender to let life unfold. My writing comes from my pain and I suppose creativity comes from pain and love. There was in me a sense of knowing that while the road ahead was unknown my father was still holding my hand. A sense of knowing!

A sense of belonging to the universe. A sense of feeling my father is with me in all that I am and what I do. A sense of we are all part of one family, the universal family, our differences are minor as beneath our skin the colour of our blood is the same.

A sense of awe, as life is a miracle in motion. Even my ability to put the thoughts from my head through my fingers so I can type these words and on this platform, is also a miracle. The notion of infinity that our universe has no beginning and no ending, this in itself is awesome. If we feel a connection with our loved ones that are no more in the physical world then that too is a sense of awe.

A sense of humility that we are a small speck in this vast universe. In the book mentioned above, Dr. Wayne Dyer, refers to a thought provoking quote by Wilhelm Stekel on the subject of humility. “The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of a mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one.”

A sense of generosity and gratitude. Nature gives regardless. The sun doesn’t take a day off nor does the moon. We are given so much. Dr. Dyer helpfully, captures this by referring to John O’Donohue’s book of Celtic wisdom called Anam Cara..

I believe that our friends among the dead really mind us and look out for us.. we might be able to link up in a very creative way with our friends in the invisible world. We do not need to grieve for the dead. Why should we grieve for them? They are now in a place where there is no more shadow, darkness, loneliness or pain. They are home. They are with God from whom they came.

We communicate with and feel the presence of those who are not in the physical world through our thousand silent conversations. We communicate with each other sometimes silently, by telepathy and through love.

This quote may resonate.

Grief is forever. It doesn’t go away; it becomes part of you; step for step, breath for breath. Jandy Nelson- The Sky is everywhere.

If you are reading this because you are missing someone you love dearly, I hope you find some comfort from these words. They are here with you and they can hear you. Now that gives a sense of awe…

Peace be with you.
