As I arrive at yet another Diwali, the festival of lights, I recall how much my father enjoyed having friends at ours. Now Diwali is a low key affair.

Almost ten years on I mark this festival in my own ways but always with my dad in my heart. On Diwali this year I will be at the Yorkshire German Shepherd Training centre in our city, where decades ago my dad went when we had our first German shepherd dog, Asha.  I wasn’t aware of this until I started my training with my dog, Oscar that too at the same place. Synchronicity and the evergreen bond between my dad and I continues, it’s a forever thing.

There is no beginning and there is no end here. Everyone else will refer to my dad in past tense but for me he’s very much with in my now.

Tomorrow I will share the Diwali spirit with other German Shepherd dog lovers, somehow I think my dad would’ve loved that.

Happy Diwali Pops.
